3:6 He decorated the temple with precious stones; the gold he used came from Parvaim. ¹

13:17 Abijah and his army thoroughly defeated them; ²  500,000 well-trained Israelite men fell dead. ³ 

[3:6]  ¹ tn Heb “and he plated the house [with] precious stone for beauty, and the gold was the gold of Parvaim.”

[3:6]  sn The location of Parvaim, the source of the gold for Solomon’s temple, is uncertain. Some have identified it with modern Farwa in Yemen; others relate it to the Sanskrit parvam and understand it to be a general term for the regions east of Palestine.

[13:17]  ² tn Heb “struck them down with a great striking down.”

[13:17]  ³ tn Heb “and [the] slain from Israel fell, five hundred thousand chosen men.”
