1:26 From the descendants of Judah: According to the records of their clans and families, all the males twenty years old or older who could serve in the army were listed by name.

¹ tn Heb “the house of their fathers.” So also in v. 20.

² tn Heb “you are to/shall number them.”

³ tn The word “sons of” does at the outset refer to the sons of Levi. But as the listing continues the expression refers more to the family groups of the various descendants.

⁴ sn The difference in the names is slight, a change from “he saves” to “the Lord saves.” The Greek text of the OT used Iesoun for Hebrew Yeshua.

⁵ tn That is, the possession of land, or property, among the other families of their tribe.

⁶ tn The word is “brothers,” but this can be interpreted more loosely to relatives. So also in v. 7.
