Roma 4:2

Kolose 4:2

Exhortation to Pray for the Success of Paul’s Mission

4:2 Be devoted to prayer, keeping alert in it with thanksgiving.

Titus 1:12

1:12 A certain one of them, in fact, one of their own prophets, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.”

Ibrani 11:13

11:13 These all died in faith without receiving the things promised, but they saw them in the distance and welcomed them and acknowledged that they were strangers and foreigners on the earth.

tn Grk “and being.” Because of the length and complexity of the Greek sentence, a new sentence was started here in the translation.

tn Grk “he”; the referent (God) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

tn Or “was justified.”

tn Grk “pain.” This word appears only three times in the NT outside of this verse (Rev 16:10, 11; 21:4) where the translation “pain” makes sense. For the present verse it has been translated “worked hard.” See BDAG 852 s.v. πόνος 1.

sn A saying attributed to the poet Epimenides of Crete (6th century b.c.).

tn Grk “the promises,” referring to the things God promised, not to the pledges themselves.

tn Or “sojourners.”
