17:2 The Lord told him:³

4:2 angry⁴ because they were teaching the people and announcing⁵ in Jesus the resurrection of the dead. 4:3 So⁶ they seized⁷ them and put them in jail⁸ until the next day (for it was already evening). 4:4 But many of those who had listened to⁹ the message¹⁰ believed, and the number of the men¹¹ came to about five thousand.

4:5 On the next day,¹² their rulers, elders, and experts in the law¹³ came together¹⁴ in Jerusalem.¹⁵ 4:6 Annas the high priest was there, and Caiaphas, John, Alexander, and others who were members of the high priest’s family.¹⁶ 4:7 After¹⁷ making Peter and John¹⁸ stand in their midst, they began to inquire, “By what power or by what name¹⁹ did you do this?”

4:1 While Peter and John²⁰ were speaking to the people, the priests and the commander²¹ of the temple guard²² and the Sadducees²³ came up²⁴ to them,

Matius 14:17-20

14:17 They²⁵ said to him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.” 14:18 “Bring them here to me,” he replied. 14:19 Then²⁶ he instructed the crowds to sit down on the grass. He took the five loaves and two fish, and looking up to heaven he gave thanks and broke the loaves. He gave them to the disciples,²⁷ who in turn gave them to the crowds.²⁸ 14:20 They all ate and were satisfied, and they picked up the broken pieces left over, twelve baskets full.
