but the reputation 2 of the wicked will rot. 3
10:8 The wise person 4 accepts instructions, 5
but the one who speaks foolishness 6 will come to ruin. 7
10:9 The one who conducts himself 8 in integrity 9 will live 10 securely,
but the one who behaves perversely 11 will be found out.
10:10 The one who winks 12 his 13 eye causes 14 trouble,
and the one who speaks foolishness 15 will come to ruin.
10:11 The teaching 16 of the righteous is a fountain of life, 17
but the speech 18 of the wicked conceals 19 violence. 20
10:12 Hatred 21 stirs up dissension,
but love covers all transgressions. 22
10:13 Wisdom is found in the words 23 of the discerning person, 24
but the one who lacks wisdom 25 will be disciplined. 26
10:14 Those who are wise 27 store up 28 knowledge,
but foolish speech 29 leads to imminent 30 destruction.
10:15 The wealth of a rich person is like 31 a fortified city, 32
but the poor are brought to ruin 33 by 34 their poverty.
10:16 The reward 35 which the righteous receive 36 is life;
the recompense 37 which the wicked receive 38 is judgment. 39
10:17 The one who heeds instruction 40 is on the way to 41 life,
but the one who rejects 42 rebuke goes astray.
10:18 The one who conceals hatred utters lies, 43
and the one who spreads 44 slander 45 is certainly 46 a fool.
10:19 When words abound, transgression is inevitable, 47
but the one who restrains 48 his words 49 is wise.
10:20 What the righteous say 50 is like 51 the best 52 silver,
but what the wicked think 53 is of little value. 54
10:21 The teaching 55 of the righteous feeds 56 many,
but fools die 57 for lack of wisdom. 58
10:22 The blessing 59 from the Lord 60 makes a person rich, 61
and he adds no sorrow 62 to 63 it.
10:23 Carrying out a wicked scheme 64 is enjoyable 65 to a fool,
and so is wisdom for the one who has discernment. 66
10:24 What the wicked fears 67 will come on him;
what the righteous desire 68 will be granted. 69
10:25 When the storm 70 passes through, the wicked are swept away, 71
but the righteous are an everlasting foundation. 72
10:26 Like vinegar to the teeth and like smoke to the eyes, 73
so is the sluggard to those 74 who send him.
10:27 Fearing the Lord 75 prolongs life, 76
but the life span 77 of the wicked will be shortened. 78
10:28 The hope 79 of the righteous is joy,
but the expectation of the wicked will remain unfulfilled. 80
10:29 The way of the Lord 81 is like 82 a stronghold for the upright, 83
but it is destruction 84 to evildoers. 85
10:30 The righteous will never be moved,
but the wicked will not inhabit the land. 86
10:31 The speech 87 of the righteous bears the fruit of wisdom, 88
but the one who speaks perversion 89 will be destroyed. 90
10:32 The lips of the righteous know 91 what is pleasing, 92
but the speech 93 of the wicked is perverse.
