11:2 When pride 1 comes, 2 then comes disgrace, 3
but with humility 4 comes 5 wisdom.
11:3 The integrity of the upright guides them, 6
but the crookedness of the unfaithful destroys them. 7
11:4 Wealth does not profit in the day of wrath, 8
but righteousness delivers from mortal danger. 9
11:5 The righteousness of the blameless will make straight their way, 10
but the wicked person will fall by his own wickedness. 11
11:6 The righteousness of the upright will deliver them, 12
but the faithless will be captured 13 by their own desires. 14
11:7 When a wicked person dies, his expectation perishes, 15
and the hope of his strength 16 perishes. 17
11:8 The righteous person is delivered 18 out of trouble,
and the wicked turns up in his stead. 19
11:9 With his speech 20 the godless person 21 destroys 22 his neighbor,
but by knowledge 23 the righteous will be delivered.
11:10 When the righteous do well, 24 the city rejoices; 25
when the wicked perish, there is joy.
11:11 A city is exalted by the blessing provided from 26 the upright,
but it is destroyed by the counsel 27 of the wicked. 28
11:12 The one who denounces 29 his neighbor lacks wisdom, 30
but the one who has discernment 31 keeps silent. 32
11:13 The one who goes about slandering others 33 reveals 34 secrets,
but the one who is trustworthy 35 conceals a matter.
11:14 When there is no guidance 36 a nation falls,
but there is success 37 in the abundance of counselors.
11:15 The one who puts up security for a stranger 38 will surely have trouble, 39
but whoever avoids 40 shaking hands 41 will be secure.
11:16 A generous woman 42 gains honor,
and ruthless men 43 seize wealth. 44
11:17 A kind person 45 benefits 46 himself, 47
but a cruel person brings himself trouble. 48
11:18 The wicked person 49 earns 50 deceitful wages, 51
but the one who sows 52 righteousness reaps 53 a genuine 54 reward. 55
11:19 True 56 righteousness leads to 57 life,
but the one who pursues evil pursues it 58 to his own death. 59
11:20 The Lord abhors 60 those who are perverse in heart, 61
but those who are blameless in their ways 62 are his delight. 63
11:21 Be assured that 64 the evil person will certainly be punished, 65
but the descendants of the righteous 66 will not suffer unjust judgment. 67
11:22 Like a gold ring 68 in a pig’s snout 69
is 70 a beautiful woman who rejects 71 discretion. 72
11:23 What the righteous desire 73 leads 74 only to good,
but what the wicked hope for 75 leads 76 to wrath.
11:24 One person is generous 77 and yet grows more wealthy, 78
but another withholds more than he should 79 and comes to poverty. 80
11:25 A generous person 81 will be enriched, 82
and the one who provides water 83 for others 84 will himself be satisfied. 85
11:26 People will curse 86 the one who withholds grain, 87
but they will praise 88 the one who sells it. 89
11:27 The one who diligently seeks 90 good seeks favor,
but the one who searches 91 for evil – it will come to him. 92
11:28 The one who trusts in his riches will fall,
but the righteous 93 will flourish like a green leaf. 94
11:29 The one who troubles 95 his family 96 will inherit nothing, 97
and the fool 98 will be a servant to the wise person. 99
11:30 The fruit of the righteous is like 100 a tree producing life, 101
and the one who wins souls 102 is wise. 103
11:31 If the righteous are recompensed on earth, 104
how much more 105 the wicked sinner! 106
