28:13 The one who covers 1 his transgressions will not prosper, 2
but whoever confesses them and forsakes them will find mercy. 3
28:14 Blessed is the one who is always cautious, 4
but whoever hardens his heart 5 will fall into evil.
28:15 Like 6 a roaring lion or a roving bear, 7
so is a wicked ruler over a poor people. 8
28:16 The prince who is a great oppressor lacks wisdom, 9
but the one who hates 10 unjust gain will prolong his days.
28:17 The one who is tormented 11 by the murder 12 of another will flee to the pit; 13
let no one support him.
28:18 The one who walks blamelessly will be delivered, 14
but whoever is perverse in his ways will fall 15 at once. 16
28:19 The one who works his land will be satisfied with food, 17
but whoever chases daydreams 18 will have his fill 19 of poverty.
28:20 A faithful person 20 will have an abundance of blessings,
but the one who hastens 21 to gain riches will not go unpunished.
28:21 To show partiality 22 is terrible, 23
for a person will transgress over the smallest piece of bread. 24
28:22 The stingy person 25 hastens after riches
and does not know that poverty will overtake him. 26
28:23 The one who reproves 27 another 28 will in the end 29 find more favor
than the one who flatters 30 with the tongue.
28:24 The one who robs 31 his father and mother and says, “There is no transgression,”
is a companion 32 to the one 33 who destroys.
28:25 The greedy person 34 stirs up dissension, 35
but the one who trusts 36 in the Lord will prosper. 37
28:26 The one who trusts in his own heart 38 is a fool,
but the one who walks in wisdom 39 will escape. 40
28:27 The one who gives to the poor will not lack, 41
but whoever shuts his eyes to them 42 will receive 43 many curses. 44
28:28 When the wicked gain control, 45 people 46 hide themselves, 47
but when they perish, 48 the righteous increase.
