32:20 You must also say, ‘In fact your servant Jacob is behind us.’”¹ Jacob thought,² “I will first appease him³ by sending a gift ahead of me.⁴ After that I will meet him.⁵ Perhaps he will accept me.”⁶

Yesaya 6:1-5

Isaiah’s Commission

6:1 In the year of King Uzziah’s death,²⁴ I saw the sovereign master²⁵ seated on a high, elevated throne. The hem of his robe filled the temple. 6:2 Seraphs²⁶ stood over him; each one had six wings. With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet,²⁷ and they used the remaining two to fly. 6:3 They called out to one another, “Holy, holy, holy²⁸ is the Lord who commands armies!²⁹ His majestic splendor fills the entire earth!” 6:4 The sound of their voices shook the door frames,³⁰ and the temple was filled with smoke.

6:5 I said, “Too bad for me! I am destroyed,³¹ for my lips are contaminated by sin,³² and I live among people whose lips are contaminated by sin.³³ My eyes have seen the king, the Lord who commands armies.”³⁴

Yohanes 1:18

1:18 No one has ever seen God. The only one,³⁵ himself God, who is in closest fellowship with³⁶ the Father, has made God³⁷ known.³⁸
