Yeremia 25:9

25:9 So I, the Lord, affirm that¹ I will send for all the peoples of the north² and my servant,³ King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. I will bring them against this land and its inhabitants and all the nations that surround it. I will utterly destroy⁴ this land, its inhabitants, and all the nations that surround it⁵ and make them everlasting ruins.⁶ I will make them objects of horror and hissing scorn.⁷

Yeremia 27:6

27:6 I have at this time placed all these nations of yours under the power⁸ of my servant,⁹ King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. I have even made all the wild animals subject to him.¹⁰

Yeremia 46:27-28

A Promise of Hope for Israel

46:27 ¹¹“You descendants of Jacob, my servants,¹² do not be afraid;

do not be terrified, people of Israel.

For I will rescue you and your descendants

from the faraway lands where you are captives.¹³

The descendants of Jacob will return to their land and enjoy peace.

They will be secure and no one will terrify them.

46:28 I, the Lord, tell¹⁴ you not to be afraid,

you descendants of Jacob, my servant,

for I am with you.

Though I completely destroy all the nations where I scatter you,

I will not completely destroy you.

I will indeed discipline you but only in due measure.

I will not allow you to go entirely unpunished.”¹⁵

Yesaya 44:28--45:1

44:28 who commissions¹⁶ Cyrus, the one I appointed as shepherd¹⁷

to carry out all my wishes¹⁸

and to decree concerning Jerusalem, ‘She will be rebuilt,’
