Yohanes 1:47

1:47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and exclaimed,¹ “Look, a true Israelite in whom there is no deceit!”²

Futility of Self-Indulgent Pleasure

I thought to myself,⁷

2:1 “Come now,⁸ I will try⁹ self-indulgent pleasure¹⁰ to see¹¹ if it is worthwhile.”¹²

But I found¹³ that it also is futile.¹⁴

2:2 I said of partying,¹⁵ “It is folly,”

and of self-indulgent pleasure,¹⁶ “It accomplishes nothing!”¹⁷

14:5 and no lie was found on their lips;¹⁸ they¹⁹ are blameless.
