Mikha 3:9

3:9 Listen to this, you leaders of the family of Jacob,

you rulers of the nation of Israel!

You hate justice

and pervert all that is right.

Yesaya 48:1-2

The Lord Appeals to the Exiles

48:1 Listen to this, O family of Jacob,

you who are called by the name ‘Israel,’

and are descended from Judah,

who take oaths in the name of the Lord,

and invoke the God of Israel –

but not in an honest and just manner.

48:2 Indeed, they live in the holy city;

they trust in the God of Israel,

whose name is the Lord who commands armies.

Yesaya 58:1

The Lord Desires Genuine Devotion

58:1 “Shout loudly! Don’t be quiet!

Yell as loud as a trumpet!

Confront my people with their rebellious deeds; 10

confront Jacob’s family with their sin! 11

Yeremia 2:4

The Lord Reminds Them of the Unfaithfulness of Their Ancestors

2:4 Now listen to what the Lord has to say, you descendants 12  of Jacob,

all you family groups from the nation 13  of Israel.

Matius 3:8

3:8 Therefore produce fruit 14  that proves your 15  repentance,

Yohanes 8:39

8:39 They answered him, 16  “Abraham is our father!” 17  Jesus replied, 18  “If you are 19  Abraham’s children, you would be doing 20  the deeds of Abraham.

Roma 2:28-29

2:28 For a person is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision something that is outward in the flesh, 2:29 but someone is a Jew who is one inwardly, and circumcision is of the heart 21  by the Spirit 22  and not by the written code. 23  This person’s 24  praise is not from people but from God.

Roma 9:6-13

9:6 It is not as though the word of God had failed. For not all those who are descended from Israel are truly Israel, 25  9:7 nor are all the children Abraham’s true descendants; rather “through Isaac will your descendants be counted.” 26  9:8 This means 27  it is not the children of the flesh 28  who are the children of God; rather, the children of promise are counted as descendants. 9:9 For this is what the promise declared: 29 About a year from now 30  I will return and Sarah will have a son.” 31  9:10 Not only that, but when Rebekah had conceived children by one man, 32  our ancestor Isaac – 9:11 even before they were born or had done anything good or bad (so that God’s purpose in election 33  would stand, not by works but by 34  his calling) 35 9:12 36  it was said to her, “The older will serve the younger,” 37  9:13 just as it is written: “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.” 38

Roma 9:2

9:2 I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. 39

Titus 3:5

3:5 he saved us not by works of righteousness that we have done but on the basis of his mercy, through the washing of the new birth and the renewing of the Holy Spirit,
