9:7 But the Lord 1 rules 2 forever;
he reigns in a just manner. 3
9:8 He judges the world fairly;
he makes just legal decisions for the nations. 4
9:9 Consequently 5 the Lord provides safety for the oppressed; 6
he provides safety in times of trouble. 7
9:10 Your loyal followers trust in you, 8
for you, Lord, do not abandon those who seek your help. 9
9:11 Sing praises to the Lord, who rules 10 in Zion!
Tell the nations what he has done! 11
9:12 For the one who takes revenge against murderers took notice of the oppressed; 12
he did not overlook 13 their cry for help 14
9:13 when they prayed: 15
“Have mercy on me, 16 Lord!
See how I am oppressed by those who hate me, 17
O one who can snatch me away 18 from the gates of death!
9:14 Then I will 19 tell about all your praiseworthy acts; 20
in the gates of Daughter Zion 21 I will rejoice because of your deliverance.” 22
9:15 The nations fell 23 into the pit they had made;
their feet were caught in the net they had hidden. 24
9:16 The Lord revealed himself;
he accomplished justice;
the wicked were ensnared by their own actions. 25 (Higgaion. 26 Selah)
9:17 The wicked are turned back and sent to Sheol; 27
this is the destiny of 28 all the nations that ignore 29 God,
9:18 for the needy are not permanently ignored, 30
the hopes of the oppressed are not forever dashed. 31
9:19 Rise up, Lord! 32
Don’t let men be defiant! 33
May the nations be judged in your presence!
9:20 Terrify them, Lord! 34
Let the nations know they are mere mortals! 35 (Selah)
