Roma 4:4-5
4:4 Now to the one who works, his pay is not credited due to grace but due to obligation.
1
4:5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous,
2 his faith is credited as righteousness.
Roma 4:14
4:14 For if they become heirs by the law, faith is empty and the promise is nullified.
3
Roma 4:16
4:16 For this reason it is by faith so that it may be by grace,
4 with the result that the promise may be certain to all the descendants – not only to those who are under the law, but also to those who have the faith of Abraham,
5 who is the father of us all
Roma 9:30-32
Israel’s Rejection Culpable
9:30 What shall we say then? – that the Gentiles who did not pursue righteousness obtained it, that is, a righteousness that is by faith,
9:31 but Israel even though pursuing 6 a law of righteousness 7 did not attain it. 8
9:32 Why not? Because they pursued 9 it not by faith but (as if it were possible) by works. 10 They stumbled over the stumbling stone, 11
Roma 10:5-6
10:5 For Moses writes about the righteousness that is by the law: “The one who does these things will live by them.” 12
10:6 But the righteousness that is by faith says: “Do not say in your heart, 13 ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’” 14 (that is, to bring Christ down)
Roma 11:6
11:6 And if it is by grace, it is no longer by works, otherwise grace would no longer be grace.
