2:8 “I have heard Moab’s taunts
and the Ammonites’ insults.
They 1 taunted my people
and verbally harassed those living in Judah. 2
16:6 We have heard about Moab’s pride,
their great arrogance,
their boasting, pride, and excess. 3
But their boastful claims are empty! 4
48:29 I have heard how proud the people of Moab are,
I know how haughty they are.
I have heard how arrogant, proud, and haughty they are,
what a high opinion they have of themselves. 5
5:22 “But you, his son 11 Belshazzar, have not humbled yourself, 12 although you knew all this. 5:23 Instead, you have exalted yourself against the Lord of heaven. You brought before you the vessels from his temple, and you and your nobles, together with your wives and concubines, drank wine from them. You praised the gods of silver, gold, bronze, iron, wood, and stone – gods 13 that cannot see or hear or comprehend! But you have not glorified the God who has in his control 14 your very breath and all your ways!
1:3 Your presumptuous heart 15 has deceived you –
you who reside in the safety of the rocky cliffs, 16
whose home is high in the mountains. 17
You think to yourself, 18
‘No one can 19 bring me down to the ground!’ 20
1:1 The vision 21 that Obadiah 22 saw. 23
The Lord God 24 says this concerning 25 Edom: 26
We have heard a report from the Lord.
An envoy was sent among the nations, saying, 27
“Arise! Let us make war against Edom!” 28
5:5 It is better for you not to vow
than to vow and not pay it. 29
