God Makes a Promise to David

17:1 When David had settled into his palace, ¹  he ²  said to Nathan the prophet, “Look, I am living in a palace ³  made from cedar, while the ark of the Lord’s covenant is under a tent.” ⁴  17:2 Nathan said to David, “You should do whatever you have in mind, ⁵  for God is with you.”

1 Samuel 7:1-2

7:2 It was quite a long time – some twenty years in all – that the ark stayed at Kiriath Jearim. All the people ⁸  of Israel longed for ⁹  the Lord.

Although it is possible that some scribes omitted τὸ ἅγιον because of its perceived superfluity (note vv. 15, 17, 19), it is far more likely that others added the adjective out of pious motives.
