1 Raja-raja 6:16-20

Konteks
6:16 He built a wall 30 feet in from the rear of the temple as a partition for an inner sanctuary that would be the most holy place. 1  He paneled the wall with cedar planks from the floor to the rafters. 2  6:17 The main hall in front of the inner sanctuary was 60 feet long. 3  6:18 The inside of the temple was all cedar and was adorned with carvings of round ornaments and of flowers in bloom. Everything was cedar; no stones were visible. 4

6:19 He prepared the inner sanctuary inside the temple so that the ark of the covenant of the Lord could be placed there. 6:20 The inner sanctuary was 30 feet 5  long, 30 feet wide, and 30 feet high. He plated it with gold, 6  as well as the cedar altar. 7

1 Raja-raja 6:2

Konteks
6:2 The temple King Solomon built for the Lord was 90 feet 8  long, 30 feet 9  wide, and 45 feet 10  high.

1 Raja-raja 3:5-10

Konteks
3:5 One night in Gibeon the Lord appeared 11  to Solomon in a dream. God said, “Tell 12  me what I should give you.” 3:6 Solomon replied, “You demonstrated 13  great loyalty to your servant, my father David, as he served 14  you faithfully, properly, and sincerely. 15  You have maintained this great loyalty to this day by allowing his son to sit on his throne. 16  3:7 Now, O Lord my God, you have made your servant king in my father David’s place, even though I am only a young man and am inexperienced. 17  3:8 Your servant stands 18  among your chosen people; 19  they are a great nation that is too numerous to count or number. 3:9 So give your servant a discerning mind 20  so he can make judicial decisions for 21  your people and distinguish right from wrong. 22  Otherwise 23  no one is able 24  to make judicial decisions for 25  this great nation of yours.” 26  3:10 The Lord 27  was pleased that Solomon made this request. 28

Yehezkiel 41:13-17

Konteks

41:13 Then he measured the temple as 175 feet 29  long, the courtyard of the temple and the building and its walls as 175 feet 30  long, 41:14 and also the width of the front of the temple and the courtyard on the east as 175 feet. 31

41:15 Then he measured the length of the building facing the courtyard at the rear of the temple, with its galleries on either side as 175 feet. 32

The interior of the outer sanctuary and the porch of the court, 33  41:16 as well as the thresholds, narrow windows and galleries all around on three sides facing the threshold were paneled with wood all around, from the ground up to the windows (now the windows were covered), 41:17 to the space above the entrance, to the inner room, and on the outside, and on all the walls in the inner room and outside, by measurement. 34

Ibrani 9:2-8

Konteks
9:2 For a tent was prepared, the outer one, 35  which contained 36  the lampstand, the table, and the presentation of the loaves; this 37  is called the holy place. 9:3 And after the second curtain there was a tent called the holy of holies. 9:4 It contained the golden altar of incense and the ark of the covenant covered entirely with gold. In this ark 38  were the golden urn containing the manna, Aaron’s rod that budded, and the stone tablets of the covenant. 9:5 And above the ark 39  were the cherubim 40  of glory overshadowing the mercy seat. Now is not the time to speak of these things in detail. 9:6 So with these things prepared like this, the priests enter continually into the outer tent 41  as they perform their duties. 9:7 But only the high priest enters once a year into the inner tent, 42  and not without blood that he offers for himself and for the sins of the people committed in ignorance. 43  9:8 The Holy Spirit is making clear that the way into the holy place had not yet appeared as long as the old tabernacle 44  was standing.

[6:16]  1 tn Heb “He built twenty cubits from the rear areas of the temple with cedar planks from the floor to the walls, and he built it on the inside for an inner sanctuary, for a holy place of holy places.”

[6:16]  2 tc The MT has קְלָעִים (qÿlaim, “curtains”), but this should be emended to קוֹרוֹת (qorot, “rafters”). See BDB 900 s.v. קוֹרָה.

[6:17]  3 tn Heb “and the house was forty cubits, that is, the main hall before it.”

[6:18]  4 tn Heb “Cedar was inside the temple, carvings of gourds (i.e., gourd-shaped ornaments) and opened flowers; the whole was cedar, no stone was seen.”

[6:20]  5 tn Heb “twenty cubits” (this measurement occurs three times in this verse).

[6:20]  6 tn Heb “with plated gold” (or perhaps, “with pure gold”).

[6:20]  7 tn Heb “he plated [the] altar of cedar.”

[6:2]  8 tn Heb “sixty cubits.” A cubit was a unit of measure roughly equivalent to 18 inches or 45 cm. Measurements in vv. 2-10 have been converted to feet in the translation for clarity.

[6:2]  9 tn Heb “twenty cubits.”

[6:2]  10 tn Heb “thirty cubits.”

[3:5]  11 tn Or “revealed himself.”

[3:5]  12 tn Heb “ask.”

[3:6]  13 tn Heb “did.”

[3:6]  14 tn Heb “walked before.”

[3:6]  15 tn Heb “in faithfulness and in innocence and in uprightness of heart with you.”

[3:6]  16 tn Heb “and you have kept to him this great loyalty and you gave to him a son [who] sits on his throne as this day.”

[3:7]  17 tn Heb “and I do not know going out or coming in.”

[3:8]  18 tn There is no verb expressed in the Hebrew text; “stands” is supplied in the translation for clarification.

[3:8]  19 tn Heb “your people whom you have chosen.”

[3:9]  20 tn Heb “a hearing heart.” (The Hebrew term translated “heart” often refers to the mental faculties.)

[3:9]  21 tn Heb “to judge.”

[3:9]  22 tn Heb “to understand between good and evil.”

[3:9]  23 tn Heb “for”; the word “otherwise” is used to reflect the logical sense of the statement.

[3:9]  24 tn Heb “who is able?” The rhetorical question anticipates the answer, “no one.”

[3:9]  25 tn Heb “to judge.”

[3:9]  26 tn Heb “your numerous people.”

[3:10]  27 tn The Hebrew term translated “Lord” here and in v.15 is אֲדֹנָי (’adonay).

[3:10]  28 tn Heb “And the thing was good in the eyes of the Lord, for Solomon asked for this thing.”

[41:13]  29 tn Heb “one hundred cubits” (i.e., 52.5 meters).

[41:13]  30 tn Heb “one hundred cubits” (i.e., 52.5 meters).

[41:14]  31 tn Heb “one hundred cubits” (i.e., 52.5 meters).

[41:15]  32 tn Heb “one hundred cubits” (i.e., 52.5 meters).

[41:15]  33 tc Some Hebrew mss read “and its outer court.”

[41:17]  34 tc The LXX does not have the word “by measurements.” The word may be a technical term referring to carpentry technique, the exact meaning of which is unclear.

[9:2]  35 tn Grk “the first,” in order of approach in the ritual.

[9:2]  36 tn Grk “in which [were].”

[9:2]  37 tn Grk “which,” describing the outer tent.

[9:4]  38 tn Grk “in which”; in the translation the referent (the ark) has been specified for clarity.

[9:5]  39 tn Grk “above it”; in the translation the referent (the ark) has been specified for clarity.

[9:5]  40 sn The cherubim (pl.) were an order of angels mentioned repeatedly in the OT but only here in the NT. They were associated with God’s presence, glory, and holiness. Their images that sat on top of the ark of the covenant are described in Exod 25:18-20.

[9:6]  41 tn Grk “the first tent.”

[9:7]  42 tn Grk “the second tent.”

[9:7]  43 tn Or perhaps “the unintentional sins of the people”; Grk “the ignorances of the people.” Cf. BDAG 13 s.v. ἀγνόημα, “sin committed in ignorance/unintentionally.” This term seems to be simply a synonym for “sins” (cf. Heb 5:2) and does not pick up the distinction made in Num 15:22-31 between unwitting sin and “high-handed” sin. The Day of Atonement ritual in Lev 16 covered all the sins of the people, not just the unwitting ones.

[9:8]  44 tn Grk “the first tent.” The literal phrase “the first tent” refers to either (1) the outer chamber of the tabernacle in the wilderness (as in vv. 2, 6) or (2) the entire tabernacle as a symbol of the OT system of approaching God. The second is more likely given the contrast that follows in vv. 11-12.
