Rehoboam’s Reign over Judah

14:21 Now Rehoboam son of Solomon ruled in Judah. He ⁶  was forty-one years old when he became king and he ruled for seventeen years in Jerusalem, ⁷  the city the Lord chose from all the tribes of Israel to be his home. ⁸  His mother was an Ammonite woman ⁹  named Naamah.

14:22 Judah did evil in the sight of ¹⁰  the Lord. They made him more jealous by their sins than their ancestors had done. ¹¹

14:27 King Rehoboam made bronze shields to replace them and assigned them to the officers of the royal guard ¹²  who protected the entrance to the royal palace.

9:15 Here are the details concerning the work crews ¹⁶  King Solomon conscripted ¹⁷  to build the Lord’s temple, his palace, the terrace, the wall of Jerusalem, ¹⁸  and the cities of ¹⁹  Hazor, ²⁰  Megiddo, ²¹  and Gezer. 9:16 (Pharaoh, king of Egypt, had attacked and captured Gezer. He burned it and killed the Canaanites who lived in the city. He gave it as a wedding present to his daughter, who had married Solomon.) 9:17 Solomon built up Gezer, lower Beth Horon, 9:18 Baalath, Tadmor in the wilderness, ²²  9:19 all the storage cities that belonged to him, ²³  and the cities where chariots and horses were kept. ²⁴  He built whatever he wanted in Jerusalem, Lebanon, and throughout his entire kingdom. ²⁵  9:20 Now several non-Israelite peoples were left in the land after the conquest of Joshua, including the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites. ²⁶  9:21 Their descendants remained in the land (the Israelites were unable to wipe them out completely).
