3:2 I fed you milk, ¹  not solid food, for you were not yet ready. In fact, you are still not ready,

5:2 And you are proud! ²  Shouldn’t you have been deeply sorrowful instead and removed the one who did this ³  from among you?

1 Korintus 7:22

7:22 For the one who was called in the Lord as a slave is the Lord’s freedman. In the same way, the one who was called as a free person is Christ’s slave.

1 Korintus 7:39

7:39 A wife is bound as long as her husband is living. But if her husband dies, ⁴  she is free to marry anyone she wishes (only someone in the Lord).

[3:2]  ¹ sn Milk refers figuratively to basic or elementary Christian teaching. Paul’s point was that the Corinthian believers he was writing to here were not mature enough to receive more advanced teaching. This was not a problem at the time, when they were recent converts, but the problem now is that they are still not ready.

[5:2]  ² tn Or “are puffed up/arrogant,” the same verb occurring in 4:6, 18.

[5:2]  ³ tn Grk “sorrowful, so that the one who did this might be removed.”

[7:39]  ⁴ tn The verb κοιμάω (koimaw) literally means “sleep,” but it is often used in the Bible as a euphemism for the death of a believer.
