8:29 Night and day may you watch over this temple, the place where you promised you would live. ¹  May you answer your servant’s prayer for this place. ²

They have not followed my instructions ¹⁰  by doing what I approve and obeying my rules and regulations, like Solomon’s father David did. ¹¹

14:8 I tore the kingdom away from the Davidic dynasty and gave it to you. But you are not like my servant David, who kept my commandments and followed me wholeheartedly by doing only what I approve. ¹²

15:5 He did this ¹³  because David had done what he approved ¹⁴  and had not disregarded any of his commandments ¹⁵  his entire lifetime, except for the incident involving Uriah the Hittite.

16:7 The prophet Jehu son of Hanani received from the Lord the message predicting the downfall of Baasha and his family because of all the evil Baasha had done in the sight of the Lord. ¹⁶  His actions angered the Lord (including the way he had destroyed Jeroboam’s dynasty), so that his family ended up like Jeroboam’s. ¹⁷

20:6 But now at this time tomorrow I will send my servants to you and they will search through your palace and your servants’ houses. They will carry away all your valuables.” ¹⁸
