1 Samuel 12:22

12:22 The Lord will not abandon his people because he wants to uphold his great reputation. ¹  The Lord was pleased to make you his own people.

Mazmur 79:9

79:9 Help us, O God, our deliverer!

For the sake of your glorious reputation, ²  rescue us!

Forgive our sins for the sake of your reputation! ³ 

[12:22]  ¹ tn Heb “on account of his great name.”

[79:9]  ² tn Heb “the glory of your name.” Here and in the following line “name” stands metonymically for God’s reputation.

[79:9]  ³ tn Heb “your name.”
