8:8 Just as they have done ¹  from the day that I brought them up from Egypt until this very day, they have rejected me and have served other gods. This is what they are also doing to you.

28:14 He said to her, “What about his appearance?” She said, “An old man is coming up! He is wrapped in a robe!”

Then Saul realized it was Samuel, and he bowed his face toward the ground and kneeled down.

[8:8]  ¹ tn Heb “according to all the deeds which they have done.”

[9:8]  ² sn A quarter shekel of silver would weigh about a tenth of an ounce (about 3 grams).

[9:8]  ³ tn Heb “our way.”

[14:3]  ⁴ tn Heb “bearing.” Many English versions understand this verb to mean “wearing” (cf. KJV, NAB, NASB, NIV, NLT).

[14:28]  ⁵ tn Heb “your father surely put the army under an oath.” The infinitive absolute is used before the finite verb to emphasize the solemn nature of the oath.

[19:24]  ⁶ tn Heb “and he fell down.”
