1 Timotius 6:4

6:4 he is conceited and understands nothing, but has an unhealthy interest in controversies and verbal disputes. This gives rise to envy, dissension, slanders, evil suspicions,

1 Timotius 6:2

6:2 But those who have believing masters must not show them less respect ¹  because they are brothers. Instead they are to serve all the more, because those who benefit from their service are believers and dearly loved. ² 

Summary of Timothy’s Duties

Teach them and exhort them about these things. ³ 

1 Timotius 3:4

3:4 He must manage his own household well and keep his children in control without losing his dignity. ⁴

[6:2]  ² tn Or “those who devote themselves to service are faithful and dearly loved” (referring to slaves who serve them).

[6:2]  ³ tn Grk “these things teach and exhort.”

[3:4]  ⁴ tn Grk “having children in submission with all dignity.” The last phrase, “keep his children in control without losing his dignity,” may refer to the children rather than the parent: “having children who are obedient and respectful.”
