18:11 The king of Assyria deported the people of Israel ¹  to Assyria. He settled them in Halah, along the Habor (the river of Gozan), and in the cities of the Medes.

19:11 Certainly you have heard how the kings of Assyria have annihilated all lands. ²  Do you really think you will be rescued? ³ 

[18:11]  ¹ tn The Hebrew text has simply “Israel” as the object of the verb.

[19:11]  ² tn Heb “Look, you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the lands, annihilating them.”

[19:11]  ³ tn Heb “and will you be rescued?” The rhetorical question expects the answer, “No, of course not!”
