4:13 Elisha said to Gehazi, ¹  “Tell her, ‘Look, you have treated us with such great respect. ²  What can I do for you? Can I put in a good word for you with the king or the commander of the army?’” She replied, “I’m quite secure.” ³

5:1 Now Naaman, the commander of the king of Syria’s army, was esteemed and respected by his master, ⁴  for through him the Lord had given Syria military victories. But this great warrior had a skin disease. ⁵

8:6 The king asked the woman about it, and she gave him the details. ⁶  The king assigned a eunuch to take care of her request and ordered him, ⁷  “Give her back everything she owns, as well as the amount of crops her field produced from the day she left the land until now.”

2 Raja-raja 20:13

20:13 Hezekiah welcomed ⁸  them and showed them his whole storehouse, with its silver, gold, spices, and high quality olive oil, as well as his armory and everything in his treasuries. Hezekiah showed them everything in his palace and in his whole kingdom. ⁹ 

2 Raja-raja 24:13

24:13 Nebuchadnezzar ¹⁰  took from there all the riches in the treasuries of the Lord’s temple and of the royal palace. He removed all the gold items which King Solomon of Israel had made for the Lord’s temple, just as the Lord had warned.

[4:13]  ¹ tn Heb “he said to him.”

[4:13]  ² tn Heb “you have turned trembling to us with all this trembling.” The exaggerated language is probably idiomatic. The point seems to be that she has taken great pains or gone out of her way to be kind to them. Her concern was a sign of her respect for the prophetic office.

[4:13]  ³ tn Heb “Among my people I am living.” This answer suggests that she has security within the context of her family.

[5:1]  ⁴ tn Heb “was a great man before his master and lifted up with respect to the face.”

[5:1]  ⁵ tn For a discussion of מְצֹרָע (mÿtsora’), traditionally translated “leprous,” see M. Cogan and H. Tadmor, II Kings (AB), 63. Naaman probably had a skin disorder of some type, not leprosy/Hansen’s disease.

[8:6]  ⁶ tn Heb “and the king asked the woman and she told him.”

[8:6]  ⁷ tn Heb “and he assigned to her an official, saying.”

[20:13]  ⁸ tc Heb “listened to.” Some Hebrew mss, as well as the LXX, Syriac, and Vulgate versions agree with the parallel passage in Isa 39:2 and read, “was happy with.”

[20:13]  ⁹ tn Heb “there was nothing which Hezekiah did not show them in his house and in all his kingdom.”

[24:13]  ¹⁰ tn Heb “he”; the referent (Nebuchadnezzar) has been specified in the translation for clarity.
