5:6 He brought the letter to king of Israel. It read: “This is a letter of introduction for my servant Naaman, ¹  whom I have sent to be cured of his skin disease.”

9:11 When Jehu rejoined ²  his master’s servants, they ³  asked him, “Is everything all right? ⁴  Why did this madman visit you?” He replied, “Ah, it’s not important. You know what kind of man he is and the kinds of things he says.” ⁵

10:21 Jehu sent invitations throughout Israel, and all the servants of Baal came; not one was absent. They arrived at the temple of Baal and filled it up from end to end. ⁶

10:23 Then Jehu and Jehonadab son of Rekab went to the temple of Baal. Jehu ⁷  said to the servants of Baal, “Make sure there are no servants of the Lord here with you; there must be only servants of Baal.” ⁸

17:13 The Lord solemnly warned Israel and Judah through all his prophets and all the seers, “Turn back from your evil ways; obey my commandments and rules that are recorded in the law. I ordered your ancestors to keep this law and sent my servants the prophets to remind you of its demands.” ⁹ 

2 Raja-raja 20:6

20:6 I will add fifteen years to your life and rescue you and this city from the king of Assyria. I will shield this city for the sake of my reputation and because of my promise to David my servant.”’” ¹⁰ 

2 Raja-raja 21:8

21:8 I will not make Israel again leave the land I gave to their ancestors, ¹¹  provided that they carefully obey all I commanded them, the whole law my servant Moses ordered them to obey.”

[9:11]  ³ tc The MT has the singular, “he said,” but many witnesses correctly read the plural.

[9:11]  ⁵ tn Heb “He said, ‘You, you know the man and his thoughts.’” Jehu tries to deflect their question by reminding them that the man is an eccentric individual who says strange things. His reply suggests that the man said nothing of importance. The translation seeks to bring out the tone and intent of Jehu’s reply.

[10:23]  ⁷ tn Heb “he”; the referent (Jehu) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[10:23]  ⁸ tn Heb “Search carefully and observe so that there are not here with you any servants of the Lord, only the servants of Baal.”

[17:13]  ⁹ tn Heb “obey my commandments and rules according to all the law which I commanded your fathers and which I sent to you by the hand of my servants the prophets.”
