13:36 Just as he finished speaking, the king’s sons arrived, wailing and weeping. ¹  The king and all his servants wept loudly ²  as well.

2 Samuel 22:18

22:18 He rescued me from my strong enemy, ³ 

from those who hate me,

for they were too strong for me.

[13:36]  ¹ tn Heb “and they lifted their voice and wept.”

[13:36]  ² tn Heb “with a great weeping.”

[22:18]  ³ tn The singular refers either to personified death or collectively to the psalmist’s enemies. The following line, which refers to “those [plural] who hate me,” favors the latter.
