2 Tawarikh 22:7
Konteks22:7 God brought about Ahaziah’s downfall through his visit to Joram. 1 When Ahaziah 2 arrived, he went out with Joram to meet Jehu son of Nimshi, whom the Lord had commissioned 3 to wipe out Ahab’s family. 4
2 Tawarikh 28:23
Konteks28:23 He offered sacrifices to the gods of Damascus whom he thought had defeated him. 5 He reasoned, 6 “Since the gods of the kings of Damascus helped them, I will sacrifice to them so they will help me.” But they caused him and all Israel to stumble.
[22:7] 1 tn Heb “From God was the downfall of Ahaziah by going to Joram.”
[22:7] 2 tn Heb “he”; the referent (Ahaziah) has been specified in the translation for clarity.
[22:7] 4 tn Heb “to cut off the house of Ahab.”
[28:23] 5 tn Heb “the gods of Damascus, the ones who had defeated him.” The words “he thought” are supplied in the translation for clarification. The perspective is that of Ahaz, not the narrator! Another option is that “the kings” has been accidentally omitted after “gods of.” See v. 23b.
