[3:4]  1 tc Heb “and the porch which was in front of the length corresponding to the width of the house, twenty cubits.” The phrase הֵיכַל הַבַּיִת (heykhal habbayit, “the main hall of the temple,” which appears in the parallel account in 1 Kgs 6:3) has been accidentally omitted by homoioarcton after עַל־פְּנֵי (’al-pÿney, “in front of”). Note that the following form, הָאֹרֶךְ (haorekh, “the length”), also begins with the Hebrew letter he (ה). A scribe’s eye probably jumped from the initial he on הֵיכַל to the initial he on הָאֹרֶךְ, leaving out the intervening letters in the process.

[3:4]  2 tc The Hebrew text has “one hundred and twenty cubits,” i.e. (assuming a cubit of 18 inches) 180 feet (54 m). An ancient Greek witness and the Syriac version read “twenty cubits,” i.e., 30 feet (9 m). It is likely that מֵאָה (meah, “a hundred”), is a corruption of an original אַמּוֹת (’ammot, “cubits”).

[6:29]  3 tn Heb “every prayer, every request for help which will be to all the people, to all your people Israel.”

[6:29]  4 tn Heb “which they know, each his pain and his affliction.”

[7:11]  5 tn Heb “and all that entered the heart of Solomon to do in the house of the Lord and in his house he successfully accomplished.”

[9:18]  6 tc The parallel text of 1 Kgs 10:19 has instead “and the back of it was rounded on top.”

[9:18]  7 tn Heb “[There were] armrests on each side of the place of the seat, and two lions standing beside the armrests.”

[9:20]  8 tn Heb “there was no silver, it was not regarded as anything in the days of Solomon.”

[13:15]  9 tn Heb “shouted out.”

[21:17]  10 tn Heb “broke it up.”

[21:17]  11 tn Heb “all the property which was found in the house of the king.”

[23:7]  12 tn Heb “house.”

[23:7]  13 tn Heb “and be with the king in his coming out and in his going out.”

[29:35]  14 tn Or “established.”

[30:10]  15 tn Heb “and they were mocking them and ridiculing them.”

[31:4]  16 tn Heb “said to.”

[31:4]  18 tn Heb “might hold firmly.”

[33:3]  19 tn The phrase כָל צְבָא הֲַשָּׁמַיִם (khol tsÿvahashamayim), traditionally translated “all the host of heaven,” refers to the heavenly lights, including stars and planets. In 1 Kgs 22:19 these heavenly bodies are pictured as members of the Lord’s royal court or assembly, but many other texts view them as the illegitimate objects of pagan and Israelite worship.

[33:3]  20 tn Or “served.”

[33:18]  21 tn Or “seers.”

[33:18]  22 tn Heb “look, they are.”

[35:4]  23 tn Heb “written.”
