6:24 “If your people Israel are defeated by an enemy ¹  because they sinned against you, then if they come back to you, renew their allegiance to you, ²  and pray for your help ³  before you in this temple,

2 Tawarikh 7:14

7:14 if my people, who belong to me, ⁴  humble themselves, pray, seek to please me, ⁵  and repudiate their sinful practices, ⁶  then I will respond ⁷  from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land. ⁸

33:19 The Annals of the Prophets include his prayer, give an account of how the Lord responded to it, record all his sins and unfaithful acts, and identify the sites where he built high places and erected Asherah poles and idols before he humbled himself. ⁹

[7:14]  ⁴ tn Heb “over whom my name is called.” The Hebrew idiom “call the name over” indicates ownership. See 2 Sam 12:28.
