2 Timotius 1:4

1:4 As I remember your tears, I long to see you, ¹  so that I may be filled with joy.

2 Timotius 3:17

3:17 that the person dedicated to God ²  may be capable ³  and equipped for every good work.

[1:4]  ¹ tn Grk “longing to see you, remembering your tears” (as a continuation of the preceding clause). Because of the length and complexity of the Greek sentence, a new sentence was started here in the translation.

[3:17]  ² tn Grk “the man of God,” but ἄνθρωπος (anqrwpos) is most likely used here in a generic sense, referring to both men and women.

[3:17]  ³ tn This word is positioned for special emphasis; it carries the sense of “complete, competent, able to meet all demands.”
