[12:24]  1 tn Heb “the heads of the people of the earth.”

[12:24]  2 tn Heb “heart.”

[12:24]  3 tn The text has בְּתֹהוּ לֹא־דָרֶךְ (bÿtohu lodarekh): “in waste – no way,” or “in a wasteland [where there is] no way,” thus, “trackless” (see the discussion of negative attributes using לֹא [lo’] in GKC 482 §152.u).

[22:23]  4 tc The MT has “you will be built up” (תִּבָּנֶה, tibbaneh). But the LXX has “humble yourself” (reading תְּעַנֶּה [tÿanneh] apparently). Many commentators read this; Dahood has “you will be healed.”

[31:7]  5 sn The meaning is “been led by what my eyes see.”

[31:7]  6 tc The word מֻאוּם (muum) could be taken in one of two ways. One reading is to represent מוּם (mum, “blemish,” see the Masorah); the other is for מְאוּמָה (mÿumah, “anything,” see the versions and the Kethib). Either reading fits the passage.

[35:9]  7 tn The word “people” is supplied, because the sentence only has the masculine plural verb.

[35:9]  8 tn The final noun is an abstract plural, “oppression.” There is no reason to change it to “oppressors” to fit the early versions. The expression is literally “multitude of oppression.”

[35:9]  9 tn Heb “the arm,” a metaphor for strength or power.

[35:9]  10 tn Or “of the many” (see HALOT 1172 s.v. I רַב 6.a).

[39:28]  11 tn Heb “upon the tooth of a rock.”

[39:28]  12 tn The word could be taken as the predicate, but because of the conjunction it seems to be adding another description of the place of its nest.
