Hakim-hakim 11:17

[20:20]  ² tn Heb “with many [heavy] people and with a strong hand.” The translation presented above is interpretive, but that is what the line means. It was a show of force, numbers and weapons, to intimidate the Israelites.

[21:22]  ³ tn The Hebrew text uses the singular in these verses to match the reference to “Israel.”

[21:22]  ⁴ tc Smr has “by the King’s way I will go. I will not turn aside to the right or the left.”

[2:27]  ⁵ tn Heb “in the way in the way” (בַּדֶּרֶךְ בַּדֶּרֶךְ, baderekh baderekh). The repetition lays great stress on the idea of resolute determination to stick to the path. IBHS 116 §7.2.3c.
