Daniel 1:13

1:13 Then compare our appearance ¹  with that of ²  the young men who are eating the royal delicacies; ³  deal with us ⁴  in light of what you see.”

Daniel 4:27

4:27 Therefore, O king, may my advice be pleasing to you. Break away from your sins by doing what is right, and from your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor. Perhaps your prosperity will be prolonged.” ⁵ 

Daniel 9:17

9:17 “So now, our God, accept ⁶  the prayer and requests of your servant, and show favor to ⁷  your devastated sanctuary for your own sake. ⁸

[1:13]  ² tn Heb “the appearance of.”

[1:13]  ³ tn Heb “delicacies of the king.” So also in v. 15.

[1:13]  ⁴ tn Heb “your servants.”

[4:27]  ⁵ tn Aram “if there may be a lengthening to your prosperity.”

[9:17]  ⁶ tn Heb “hear.” Here the verb refers to hearing favorably, accepting the prayer and responding positively.

[9:17]  ⁷ tn Heb “let your face shine.” This idiom pictures God smiling in favor. See Pss 31:16; 67:1; 80:3, 7, 19.

[9:17]  ⁸ tn Heb “for the sake of my Lord.” Theodotion has “for your sake.” Cf. v. 19.
