Daniel 2:24

2:24 Then Daniel went in to see ¹  Arioch (whom the king had appointed to destroy the wise men of Babylon). He came ²  and said to him, “Don’t destroy the wise men of Babylon! Escort me ³  to the king, and I will disclose the interpretation to him!” ⁴ 

Daniel 4:18

4:18 “This is the dream that I, King Nebuchadnezzar, saw. Now you, Belteshazzar, declare its ⁵  interpretation, for none of the wise men in ⁶  my kingdom are able to make known to me the interpretation. But you can do so, for a spirit of the holy gods is in you.”

Daniel 4:32

4:32 You will be driven from human society, and you will live with the wild animals. You will be fed grass like oxen, and seven periods of time will pass by for you before ⁷  you understand that the Most High is ruler over human kingdoms and gives them to whomever he wishes.”

Daniel 5:16

5:16 However, I have heard ⁸  that you are able to provide interpretations and to decipher knotty problems. Now if you are able to read this writing and make known to me its interpretation, you will wear purple and have a golden collar around your neck and be third ⁹  ruler in the kingdom.”

Daniel 6:22

6:22 My God sent his angel and closed the lions’ mouths so that they have not harmed me, because I was found to be innocent before him. Nor have I done any harm to you, O king.”

Daniel 7:20

7:20 I also wanted to know ¹⁰  the meaning of the ten horns on its head, and of that other horn which came up and before which three others fell. This was the horn that had eyes ¹¹  and a mouth speaking arrogant things, whose appearance was more formidable than the others. ¹² 

Daniel 8:17

8:17 So he approached the place where I was standing. As he came, I felt terrified and fell flat on the ground. ¹³  Then he said to me, “Understand, son of man, ¹⁴  that the vision pertains to the time of the end.”

Daniel 9:18-19

9:18 Listen attentively, ¹⁵  my God, and hear! Open your eyes and look on our desolated ruins ¹⁶  and the city called by your name. ¹⁷  For it is not because of our own righteous deeds that we are praying to you, ¹⁸  but because your compassion is abundant. 9:19 O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, pay attention, and act! Don’t delay, for your own sake, O my God! For your city and your people are called by your name.” ¹⁹ 

[2:24]  ¹ tc The MT has עַל עַל (’al ’al, “he entered upon”). Several medieval Hebrew MSS lack the verb, although this may be due to haplography.

[2:24]  ² tc The LXX and Vulgate, along with one medieval Hebrew MS, lack this verb.

[2:24]  ³ tn Aram “cause me to enter.” So also in v. 25.

[2:24]  ⁴ tn Aram “the king.”

[4:18]  ⁵ tc The present translation reads פִּשְׁרֵהּ (pishreh, “its interpretation”) with the Qere and many medieval Hebrew MSS; the Kethib is פִּשְׁרָא (pishra’, “the interpretation”); so also v. 16.

[9:19]  ¹⁹ tn Heb “for your name is called over your city and your people.” See the note on this expression in v 18.
