Galatia 3:3

3:3 Are you so foolish? Although you began ¹  with ²  the Spirit, are you now trying to finish ³  by human effort? ⁴

4:18 However, it is good ⁵  to be sought eagerly ⁶  for a good purpose ⁷  at all times, and not only when I am present with you.

4:20 I wish I could be with you now and change my tone of voice, ⁸  because I am perplexed about you.

5:4 You who are trying to be declared righteous ⁹  by the law have been alienated ¹⁰  from Christ; you have fallen away from grace!

[3:3]  ³ tn The verb ἐπιτελεῖσθε (epiteleisqe) has been translated as a conative present (see ExSyn 534). This is something the Galatians were attempting to do, but could not accomplish successfully.

[4:18]  ⁵ tn Or “commendable.”

[4:18]  ⁶ tn Or “to be zealous.”

[4:18]  ⁷ tn Grk “But it is always good to be zealous in good.”

[4:20]  ⁸ tn Grk “voice” or “tone.” The contemporary English expression “tone of voice” is a good approximation to the meaning here.
