Kejadian 23:4

23:4 “I am a temporary settler ¹  among you. Grant ²  me ownership ³  of a burial site among you so that I may ⁴  bury my dead.” ⁵ 

Mazmur 105:11-12

105:11 saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan

as the portion of your inheritance.”

105:12 When they were few in number,

just a very few, and resident aliens within it,

Ibrani 11:9-10

11:9 By faith he lived as a foreigner ⁶  in the promised land as though it were a foreign country, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, who were fellow heirs ⁷  of the same promise. 11:10 For he was looking forward to the city with firm foundations, ⁸  whose architect and builder is God.

Ibrani 11:13-16

11:13 These all died in faith without receiving the things promised, ⁹  but they saw them in the distance and welcomed them and acknowledged that they were strangers and foreigners ¹⁰  on the earth. 11:14 For those who speak in such a way make it clear that they are seeking a homeland. 11:15 In fact, if they had been thinking of the land that they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. 11:16 But as it is, ¹¹  they aspire to a better land, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore, God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.

[23:4]  ² tn Heb “give,” which is used here as an idiom for “sell” (see v. 9). The idiom reflects the polite bartering that was done in the culture at the time.
