[1:11]  1 tn Heb “they went from there against the inhabitants of Debir.” The LXX reads the verb as “they went up,” which suggests that the Hebrew text translated by the LXX read וַיַּעַל (vayyaal) rather than the MT’s וַיֵּלֶךְ (vayyelekh). It is possible that this is the text to be preferred in v. 11. Cf. Josh 15:15.

[9:21]  2 tn Heb “fled and ran away and went.”

[9:21]  3 tn Heb “from before.”

[9:21]  4 tn Heb “his brother.”

[9:40]  5 tn Heb “he”; the referent (Gaal) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[9:40]  6 tn The word “Shechemites” is not in the Hebrew text, but is supplied for clarification.

[11:23]  7 tn Heb “Now.”

[11:23]  8 tn Or “dispossessed.”

[11:23]  9 tn Heb “will you dispossess him [i.e., Israel; or possibly “it,” i.e., the territory]?” There is no interrogative marker in the Hebrew text.

[13:15]  10 tn Heb “Please allow us to detain you.”

[13:15]  11 tn Heb “so we can prepare before you a young goat of the goats.”

[18:21]  12 tn Heb “They turned and went and put the children, the cattle, and the possessions in front of them.”

[18:23]  13 tn Heb “they”; the referent (the Danites) has been specified in the translation for clarity.
