TB NETBible YUN-IBR Ref. Silang Nama Gambar Himne

Hakim-hakim 2:12

Konteks
2:12 They abandoned the Lord God of their ancestors 1  who brought them out of the land of Egypt. They followed other gods – the gods of the nations who lived around them. They worshiped 2  them and made the Lord angry.

Hakim-hakim 2:19

Konteks
2:19 When a leader died, the next generation 3  would again 4  act more wickedly than the previous one. 5  They would follow after other gods, worshiping them 6  and bowing down to them. They did not give up 7  their practices or their stubborn ways.

Hakim-hakim 3:1

Konteks

3:1 These were the nations the Lord permitted to remain so he could use them to test Israel – he wanted to test all those who had not experienced battle against the Canaanites. 8

Hakim-hakim 8:10

Konteks

8:10 Now Zebah and Zalmunna were in Karkor with their armies. There were about fifteen thousand survivors from the army of the eastern peoples; a hundred and twenty thousand sword-wielding soldiers had been killed. 9

Hakim-hakim 9:20

Konteks
9:20 But if not, may fire blaze from Abimelech and consume the leaders of Shechem and Beth Millo! May fire also blaze from the leaders of Shechem and Beth Millo and consume Abimelech!”

Hakim-hakim 11:18

Konteks
11:18 Then Israel 10  went through the desert and bypassed the land of Edom and the land of Moab. They traveled east of the land of Moab and camped on the other side of the Arnon River; 11  they did not go through Moabite territory (the Arnon was Moab’s border).

Hakim-hakim 13:5

Konteks
13:5 Look, you will conceive and have a son. 12  You must never cut his hair, 13  for the child will be dedicated to God 14  from birth. He will begin to deliver Israel from the power 15  of the Philistines.”

Hakim-hakim 13:7-8

Konteks
13:7 He said to me, ‘Look, you will conceive and have a son. 16  So now, do not drink wine or beer and do not eat any food that will make you ritually unclean. 17  For the child will be dedicated 18  to God from birth till the day he dies.’”

13:8 Manoah prayed to the Lord, 19  “Please, Lord, allow the man sent from God 20  to visit 21  us again, so he can teach 22  us how we should raise 23  the child who will be born.”

Hakim-hakim 13:23

Konteks
13:23 But his wife said to him, “If the Lord wanted to kill us, he would not have accepted the burnt offering and the grain offering from us. 24  He would not have shown us all these things, or have spoken to us like this just now.”

Hakim-hakim 21:19

Konteks
21:19 However, there is an annual festival to the Lord in Shiloh, which is north of Bethel 25  (east of the main road that goes up from Bethel to Shechem) and south of Lebonah.”

[2:12]  1 tn Or “fathers.”

[2:12]  2 tn Or “bowed before” (the same expression occurs in the following verse).

[2:19]  3 tn Heb “they”; the referent (the next generation) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[2:19]  4 tn The verb שׁוּב (shuv, “to return; to turn”) is sometimes translated “turn back” here, but it is probably used in an adverbial sense, indicating that the main action (“act wickedly”) is being repeated.

[2:19]  5 tn Heb “their fathers.”

[2:19]  sn The statement the next generation would again act more wickedly than the previous one must refer to the successive sinful generations after Joshua, not Joshua’s godly generation (cf. vv. 7, 17).

[2:19]  6 tn Or “serving [them]”; or “following [them].”

[2:19]  7 tn Or “drop.”

[3:1]  8 tn Heb “did not know the wars of Canaan.”

[8:10]  9 tn Heb “About fifteen thousand [in number] were all the ones remaining from the army of the sons of the east. The fallen ones were a hundred and twenty thousand [in number], men drawing the sword.”

[11:18]  10 tn Heb “he”; the referent (Israel; the pronoun in the Hebrew text represents a collective singular) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[11:18]  11 tn The word “River” is not in the Hebrew text, but has been supplied in the translation for clarity.

[13:5]  12 tn Another option is to translate, “you are already pregnant and will have a son.” The earlier reference to her being infertile (v. 3) suggests that her conception is still future, but it is possible that the earlier statement only reflects her perspective (as far as she is concerned, she is infertile). According to this interpretation, in v. 5 the angel reveals the truth to her – actually she has recently conceived and is now pregnant (see the translation in R. G. Boling, Judges [AB], 217). Usage favors this interpretation. The predicate adjective הָרָה (harah, “[be/become] pregnant”) elsewhere has a past (1 Sam 4:19) or present (Gen 16:11; 38:25; 2 Sam 11:5) translation value. (The usage in Isa 7:14 is debated, but a present translation is definitely possible there.) A final, but less likely possibility, is that she miraculously conceived during the angel’s speech, sometime between his statements recorded in vv. 3 and 5.

[13:5]  13 tn Heb “a razor should not go up on his head.”

[13:5]  14 tn Or “set apart to God.” Traditionally the Hebrew term נָזִיר (nazir) has been translated “Nazirite.” The word is derived from the verb נָזַר (nazar, “to dedicate; to consecrate; to set apart”).

[13:5]  15 tn Heb “hand.”

[13:7]  16 tn See the note on the word “son” in 13:5, where this same statement occurs.

[13:7]  17 tn Heb “eat anything unclean.” Certain foods were regarded as ritually “unclean” (see Lev 11). Eating such food made one ritually “contaminated.”

[13:7]  18 tn Traditionally “a Nazirite.”

[13:8]  19 tn The Hebrew text adds “and said.” This has not been included in the translation for stylistic reasons.

[13:8]  20 tn Heb “the man of God.”

[13:8]  21 tn Heb “come to.”

[13:8]  22 tc The LXX has “enlighten,” understanding the Hebrew to read וִיאִירֵנוּ (viirenu, “to give light”) rather than the reading of the MT, וְיוֹרֵנוּ (vÿyorenu, “to teach”).

[13:8]  23 tn Heb “what we should do for.”

[13:23]  24 tn Heb “our hand.”
