Yesaya 51:23

51:23 I will put it into the hand of your tormentors ¹ 

who said to you, ‘Lie down, so we can walk over you.’

You made your back like the ground,

and like the street for those who walked over you.”

28:29 You will feel your way along at noon like the blind person does in darkness and you will not succeed in anything you do; ²  you will be constantly oppressed and continually robbed, with no one to save you. 28:30 You will be engaged to a woman and another man will rape ³  her. 50:22 Carefully consider this, you who reject God! ⁵

[28:30]  ³ tc For MT reading שָׁגַל (shagal, “ravish; violate”), the Syriac, Targum, and Vulgate presume the less violent שָׁכַב (shakhav, “lie with”). The unexpected counterpart to betrothal here favors the originality of the MT.

[28:32]  ⁴ tn Heb “and there will be no power in your hand”; NCV “there will be nothing you can do.”

[50:22]  ⁵ tn Heb “[you who] forget God.” “Forgetting God” here means forgetting about his commandments and not respecting his moral authority.

[50:22]  ⁶ sn Elsewhere in the psalms this verb is used (within a metaphorical framework) of a lion tearing its prey (see Pss 7:2; 17:12; 22:13).
