Yosua 9:15

9:15 Joshua made a peace treaty with them and agreed to let them live. The leaders of the community ¹  sealed it with an oath. ² 

Yosua 9:19-20

9:19 but all the leaders told the whole community, “We swore an oath to them in the name of ³  the Lord God of Israel. So now we can’t hurt ⁴  them! 9:20 We must let them live so we can escape the curse attached to the oath we swore to them.” ⁵

9:2 they formed an alliance to fight against Joshua and Israel. ⁶

[21:2]  ⁹ tn The Hebrew expression here refers to a particular, but unnamed, place. It occurs in the OT only here, in 2 Kgs 6:8, and in Ruth 4:1, where Boaz uses it to refer to Naomi’s unnamed kinsman-redeemer. A contracted form of the expression appears in Dan 8:13.
