11:6 And the Lord said, “If as one people all sharing a common language ¹  they have begun to do this, then ²  nothing they plan to do will be beyond them. ³

20:7 But now give back the man’s wife. Indeed ⁴  he is a prophet ⁵  and he will pray for you; thus you will live. ⁶  But if you don’t give her back, ⁷  know that you will surely die ⁸  along with all who belong to you.”

28:15 I am with you! ⁹  I will protect you wherever you go and will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I promised you!”

[42:38]  ¹⁸ sn The expression he alone is left meant that (so far as Jacob knew) Benjamin was the only surviving child of his mother Rachel.

[42:38]  ¹⁹ sn The expression bring down my gray hair is figurative, using a part for the whole – they would put Jacob in the grave. But the gray head signifies a long life of worry and trouble.
