17:18 Abraham said to God, “O that ¹  Ishmael might live before you!” ² 

Kejadian 42:10

42:10 But they exclaimed, ³  “No, my lord! Your servants have come to buy grain for food!

[17:18]  ¹ tn The wish is introduced with the Hebrew particle לוּ (lu), “O that.”

[17:18]  ² tn Or “live with your blessing.”

[42:10]  ³ tn Heb “and they said to him.” In context this is best understood as an exclamation.
