[8:11]  1 tn The clause introduced by vav (ו) consecutive is translated as a temporal clause subordinated to the following clause.

[8:11]  2 tn The deictic particle הִנֵּה (hinneh) draws attention to the olive leaf. It invites readers to enter into the story, as it were, and look at the olive leaf with their own eyes.

[37:14]  3 tn Heb “he”; the referent (Jacob) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[37:14]  4 tn Heb “see.”

[37:14]  5 tn Heb “peace.”

[37:14]  6 tn Heb “he”; the referent (Jacob) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[42:24]  7 tn Heb “and he turned to them and spoke to them.”

[42:24]  8 tn Heb “took Simeon.” This was probably done at Joseph’s command, however; the grand vizier of Egypt would not have personally seized a prisoner.

[42:24]  9 tn Heb “and he bound him.” See the note on the preceding verb “taken.”
