[4:6]  1 sn The high priest’s family. This family controlled the high priesthood as far back as a.d. 6. Annas, Caiaphas, and Alexander were all high priests at one time (though Alexander held that office after this event).

[5:7]  2 tn Grk “It happened that after an interval of about three hours.” The introductory phrase ἐγένετο (egeneto, “it happened that”), common in Luke (69 times) and Acts (54 times), is redundant in contemporary English and has not been translated.

[5:7]  3 tn Grk “came in, not knowing.” The participle has been translated with concessive or adversative force: “although she did not know.” In English, the adversative conjunction (“but”) conveys this nuance more smoothly.

[15:27]  4 tn This verb has been translated as an epistolary aorist.

[15:27]  5 sn Judas and Silas were the “two witnesses” who would vouch for the truth of the recommendation.

[15:27]  6 tn Grk “by means of word” (an idiom for a verbal report).
