25:1 The Lord spoke to Moses at Mount Sinai:

1 Samuel 15:17

15:17 Samuel said, “Is it not true that when you were insignificant in your own eyes, you became head of the tribes of Israel? The Lord chose ²  you as king over Israel.

Daniel 3:6

3:6 Whoever does not bow down and pay homage will immediately ³  be thrown into the midst of a furnace of blazing fire!”

Daniel 3:15

3:15 Now if you are ready, when you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, trigon, harp, pipes, and all kinds of music, you must bow down and pay homage to the statue that I had made. If you don’t pay homage to it, you will immediately be thrown into the midst of the furnace of blazing fire. Now, who is that god who can rescue you from my power?” ⁴ 

Daniel 5:19-20

5:19 Due to the greatness that he bestowed on him, all peoples, nations, and language groups were trembling with fear ⁵  before him. He killed whom he wished, he spared ⁶  whom he wished, he exalted whom he wished, and he brought low whom he wished. 5:20 And when his mind ⁷  became arrogant ⁸  and his spirit filled with pride, he was deposed from his royal throne and his honor was removed from him.

[25:43]  ¹ tn Heb “You shall not rule in him in violence”; cf. NASB “with severity”; NIV “ruthlessly.”

[15:17]  ² tn Heb “anointed.”

[3:6]  ³ tn Aram “in that hour.”

[3:15]  ⁴ tn Aram “hand.” So also in v. 17.

[5:19]  ⁵ tn Aram “were trembling and fearing.” This can be treated as a hendiadys, “were trembling with fear.”

[5:19]  ⁶ tn Aram “let live.” This Aramaic form is the aphel participle of חַיָה(khayah, “to live”). Theodotion and the Vulgate mistakenly take the form to be from מְחָא (mÿkha’, “to smite”).

[5:20]  ⁷ tn Aram “heart.”

[5:20]  ⁸ sn The point of describing Nebuchadnezzar as arrogant is that he had usurped divine prerogatives, and because of his immense arrogance God had dealt decisively with him.
