Lukas 1:33

1:33 He ¹  will reign over the house of Jacob ²  forever, and his kingdom will never end.”

Lukas 11:15

11:15 But some of them said, “By the power of Beelzebul, ³  the ruler ⁴  of demons, he casts out demons.”

[1:33]  ¹ tn Grk “And he.” Here καί (kai) has not been translated because of differences between Greek and English style. A new sentence is begun here in the translation because of the length of the sentence in Greek.

[1:33]  ² tn Or “over Israel.”

[1:33]  sn The expression house of Jacob refers to Israel. This points to the Messiah’s relationship to the people of Israel.

[11:15]  ³ tn Grk “By Beelzebul.”

[11:15]  sn Beelzebul is another name for Satan. So some people recognized Jesus’ work as supernatural, but called it diabolical.

[11:15]  ⁴ tn Or “prince.”
