[1:43]  ¹ tn Grk “From where this to me?” The translation suggests the note of humility and surprise that Elizabeth feels in being a part of these events. The ἵνα (Jina) clause which follows explains what “this” is. A literal translation would read “From where this to me, that is, that the mother of my Lord comes to visit me?”

[6:38]  ² sn The background to the image pressed down, shaken together, running over is pouring out grain for measure in the marketplace. One often poured the grain into a container, shook it to level out the grain and then poured in some more. Those who are generous have generosity running over for them.

[6:38]  ³ tn Grk “they will give”; that is, “pour.” The third person plural has been replaced by the passive in the translation.

[6:38]  ⁴ tn Grk “by [the measure] with which you measure it will be measured back to you.”

[11:35]  ⁵ tn This is a present imperative, calling for a constant watch (L&N 24.32; ExSyn 721).

[11:35]  ⁶ sn Here you is a singular pronoun, individualizing the application.

[19:1]  ⁷ tn Grk “And entering, he passed through”; the referent (Jesus) has been specified in the translation for clarity. Here καί (kai) has not been translated because of differences between Greek and English style.
