Lukas 1:58

1:58 Her ¹  neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had shown ²  great mercy to her, and they rejoiced ³  with her.

Lukas 23:28

23:28 But Jesus turned to them and said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, ⁴  do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves ⁵  and for your children.

Lukas 24:9

24:9 and when they returned from the tomb they told all these things to the eleven ⁶  and to all the rest.

[1:58]  ¹ tn Grk “And her.” Here καί (kai) has not been translated because of differences between Greek and English style.

[1:58]  ² tn Grk “had magnified his mercy with her.”

[1:58]  ³ tn The verb συνέχαιρον (sunecairon) is an imperfect and could be translated as an ingressive force, “they began to rejoice.”

[23:28]  ⁴ sn The title Daughters of Jerusalem portrays these women mourning as representatives of the nation.

[23:28]  ⁵ sn Do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves. Judgment now comes on the nation (see Luke 19:41-44) for this judgment of Jesus. Ironically, they mourn the wrong person – they should be mourning for themselves.

[24:9]  ⁶ sn Judas is now absent and “the twelve” have now become “the eleven.” Other disciples are also gathered with the remaining eleven.
