12:21 So it is with the one who stores up riches for himself, ¹  but is not rich toward God.”

2:9 An ²  angel of the Lord ³  appeared to ⁴  them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were absolutely terrified. ⁵ 

[12:21]  ¹ sn It is selfishness that is rebuked here, in the accumulation of riches for himself. Recall the emphasis on the first person pronouns throughout the parable.

[2:9]  ⁵ tn Grk “they feared a great fear” (a Semitic idiom which intensifies the main idea, in this case their fear).
