Lukas 19:27

19:27 But as for these enemies of mine who did not want me to be their king, ¹  bring them here and slaughter ²  them ³  in front of me!’”

19:38 “Blessed is the king ⁴  who comes in the name of the Lord! ⁵  Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”

[19:27]  ² tn This term, when used of people rather than animals, has some connotations of violence and mercilessness (L&N 20.72).

[19:27]  ³ sn Slaughter them. To reject the king is to face certain judgment from him.

[19:38]  ⁴ sn Luke adds the title king to the citation from Ps 118:26 to make clear who was meant (see Luke 18:38). The psalm was used in looking for the deliverance of the end, thus leading to the Pharisees’ reaction.
